1) Speech / Articulation / Oral-Motor (Sound Production) Evaluation and Therapy-How well the individual pronounces/dictates/articulates sounds, e.g., individual can't say "s" for "snake," or "th" for "three." 2) Language Evaluation and Therapy- a) Expressive language is how the individual uses their vocabulary and grammar to communicate with adults and peers.
b) Receptive language is how the individual listens or understands spoken words and sentences, e.g., following directions and processing questions.
c) Auditory processing is how well the individual hears and discriminates sounds such as when rhyming, detecting missing sounds in words, and remembering auditory information.
3) Communication Therapy- Involves working with a client who speaks minimal words and needs to learn how to expand their communication by using non-verbal communication systems such as pointing, gesturing, sign language (basic), and Picture Exchange Communication System(PECS). 4) Play Therapy- for the child who does not have a speech and language delay, but has difficulty focusing/concentrating, behaving, and using their imagination during play. 5)Feeding Evaluation and Therapy- For children who do not have medical related feeding difficulties, but are eating a limited number of foods and are having difficulty chewing and/or swallowing (includes drinking). 6) Social Skill Training- Helps the individual become more interactive with peers/siblings. 7) Parent Coaching- Parents learn the most effective techniques to maximize their child's communicative development and learning during playtime. I also educate parents about stuttering.
8)Early Childhood Tutoring Services- Includes color and letter recognition, counting, sound recognition, learning shapes, categorizing, etc.
9) Private Special Education Itinerant Services (SEIT)-Work
with your child in his or her private preschool/daycare where I
collaborate closely as a team member with your child's teacher. 10) Elementary School Tutoring Services- Includes strengthening underlying fundamental language skills, such as: reading comprehension, expressive writing, and acquiring strategies to overcome learning difficulties.
NEW A small group, elementary level, literacy circle is being formed to promote literacy as a positive learning experience. Students will actively engage in choosing texts at their independent reading level. Students will collaborate and use critical thinking skills in meaningful student led discussions and will use arts as a medium for language learning. Students will apply reading strategies both independently and supervised and will engage in reading longer texts by self-monitoring, as well as aided, to increase fluency. When: Mondays (except major holidays) from 4:20 to 5:20 Where: 38 8th Avenue/Lincoln Pl. in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Close to the 2,3,B, and Q subway lines. Cost: $65 per session based on a 8 week course.
